In London, hanging in cafes, restaurants and bars is not nearly as trendy anymore as spending time with friends at a gourmet street food market.

“Seriously, if this is London, I love it!”
That’s what I ended my last post with as I detailed my first hour in London – I was only still commuting from the airport. And after finally arriving at my friend’s apartment – or rather his flat – I dropped off my things and headed out for a bite to eat.
I went wandering around his neighborhood which is known as Angel. Within a couple blocks of strolling along, not having any idea where I would end up, I came across this beautiful canal. (Continue reading…)
For the next three weeks I am going to be in Europe. I’ll be creating videos and writing blog posts from Rome, London and Paris showing a local side to the popular destinations where it is often hard to get beyond the tourist facade. And of course, I’ll be covering the Olympic atmosphere in London!
But as of now, I’ve basically just arrived. And last night was my first night in Rome. I met up with some friends and we headed out for dinner at a restaurant called L’Antica Roma, a local pizzeria in the neighborhood of Monteverde Vecchio.
When I first arrived in Kauai, my family and I drove from the airport in Lihue to Hanalei Bay, where we are staying. The views outside the window were stunning with lush mountains, taro fields alive with color and stunning ocean views. I also noticed a roadside shack, just outside Hanalei, that peaked my interest.
Just the name of the place, The Coconut Experience, had my mind aglow imaging myself chewing on fresh coconut meat and sipping refreshing coconut water from a straw.
So of course, I came back to capture the coconut experience for myself. And I found much more than I imagined.
When I was going to the University of Southern California, I lived in downtown Los Angeles. At the time, the area was just starting to undergo a revival. There were a few new restaurants and bars popping up. Old warehouses and office buildings were beginning to be converted into lofts.
I haven’t spent much time downtown since my college years, so when I hung out there over the last couple weeks, it was really fun to see how far it has come. I would definitely recommend checking it out if you are in LA – especially the Art District.
Despite all the new additions, I couldn’t help but to revisit one of my favorite places that hasn’t changed much for decades. And that’s the Grand Central Market.
The blog has been a little quiet this week because I am shooting a new video series!
A video travel guide called The Local Way is featuring me. In it, I show you around my hometown of Los Angeles from a local perspective.
Yesterday we shot in Downtown LA. And in the picture below I was at Eat. Drink. Americano, a restaurant with delicious food and imported beer on tap.

When you go to Paris you have to go to the Louvre, it’s almost mandatory. Right? But I have to be honest, a favorite part of the museum for me is not even inside it at all.
In this episode, it’s all about finding ways to break the Parisian code and making local friends. And sometimes that means finding the right venue…
I’ll be posting a video from this series every Tuesday.
This episode is all about ways to navigate Paris. I share my secret weapon which I prefer over any app or guide. And I also talk about my favorite way to explore the city.
Here is the link for the Velib bike system just in case you want to buy a pass! http://en.velib.paris.fr/

In this episode, I sit down with a good friend to get the lowdown on dating in Paris. You might be surprised what I find out!
