NYC Behind European Cities in Free-Wifi Race

Traveling over the summer, I visited a few of the major European capitals including Rome, London and Paris where I found they have abundantly adopted free wifi. In these cities, I easily found coffee shops and restaurants where I could get online. And surprisingly, this contrasts my experience at home, in New York City, where I am often struggling to find new public spaces to work with an internet connection. This is no scientific study. But… Hey, New York! You are behind the times.…

Olympic Gold Metal Soccer – USA v JAPAN (VIDEO)

At the last minute, I acquired some tickets to the Olympic, gold metal, women’s football match on Thursday. It was the World Cup 2010, all over again. Well, almost. The event itself took place at Wembley Park, the veritable birthplace of British football. And the game broke a pretty exciting record. With over 80 thousand spectators in the stadium, last night’s match became the most highly attended women’s Olympic game in history. Let’s hear a round of applause for women in sports! And watch this video to feel like you were there.…

Discovering Camden Passage in London (Photos)

“Seriously, if this is London, I love it!” That’s what I ended my last post with as I detailed my first hour in London – I was only still commuting from the airport. And after finally arriving at my friend’s apartment – or rather his flat – I dropped off my things and headed out for a bite to eat. I went wandering around his neighborhood which is known as Angel. Within a couple blocks of strolling along, not having any idea where I would end up, I came across this beautiful canal.…

Arriving in London

Despite having spent a lot of time in Europe, I’ve never been to London. I was always so focused on learning different languages. And, well, they speak English in the UK. So I avoided it even when I lived in Paris for a semester abroad, when I spent a summer in Florence and during my days gallivanting around Spain. But finally I am here in London to shoot videos and experience the tail end of the Olympics. And from the moment I stepped out of the airport yesterday the charm of Londoners surprised me and impressed me time and again. Knowing I have seen next to nothing so far, I couldn’t help but to think at each turn, if this…

Pizza in Roma

For the next three weeks I am going to be in Europe. I’ll be creating videos and writing blog posts from Rome, London and Paris showing a local side to the popular destinations where it is often hard to get beyond the tourist facade. And of course, I’ll be covering the Olympic atmosphere in London! But as of now, I’ve basically just arrived. And last night was my first night in Rome. I met up with some friends and we headed out for dinner at a restaurant called L’Antica Roma, a local pizzeria in the neighborhood of Monteverde Vecchio.…

It’s a really big week at TravelwithKate.com! As you have surely observed, I have a completely new website. Rest assured, the content is the same. It is just all organized and presented differently. You know, like it’s a real website and not just a blog roll! It is all pretty self-explanatory. But here’s a little tour to help you get situated.…
