For years, people have told me how brave they think I am for all the travel I do. They say, “I could never do what you do because I’m just too afraid. I have too much travel anxiety.” And despite my commitment to travel, I always could relate because even the most seasoned traveler feels a twinge of excitement and fear just before a trip. But more recently, I’ve started to not just be able to relate to these fears, I’ve been experiencing them myself. Ever since I started traveling on my own I loved airports. When I would arrive at a terminal I’d feel an extra bounce in my step and a smile would spread across my face. The…

It was a real girls day out with Trish Friesen of Tripstyler.com. Trish is a Vancouver local with a love of travel and all things chic. On her site, she profiles fabulous vacations around the world. And in her hometown she is quite the connoisseuse of boutique shopping. In this video she takes me around to her four favorite stores full of unique finds. And we also sample some delicious snacks at her beloved eateries. Watch the video above or check out the 30-second trailer! Here is a list of all the places we visited in order of appearance:…
On a recent trip to Vancouver, Canada I was taken by surprise! A little caveat here – I recently moved back to LA after living in New York City. And like many NY-LA transplants (even for people who were originally from LA, like myself) there is a long period of readjustment as you slowly must surrender to a new way of life. But as I walked around the streets of Vancouver, I thought, “Here you can have it all!”…
I am so pleased to announce that Travel with Kate is reaching new heights. First of all, I know you’ve heard me mentioning Expedia a lot lately. And that is because I have recently joined their team of content creators for the Expedia Viewfinder blog. I suppose this is my official announcement!! I’m joining other prominent travel bloggers that I have been admiring for years. And so far, I have posted three articles there: A post on escaping to Tulum, Mexico for a warm-weather getaway; a piece about going back in time to Rat Pack Vegas; and my latest is about my two favorite European restaurants in LA. And that’s just the beginning.…
Last Saturday, on International Women’s Day, I took part in a wonderful event empowering women to travel. It was the first annual, Women’s Travel Festival held in New York City. And it was clear that from the seasoned, career-travelers on stage to the festival attendees – the room was full of friends. Wait. Not just friends, but sisters. A love for travel, solo or otherwise, means you embrace new friendships and new adventures. And the festival was packed with open-hearted and brave women coming together over their common passions. For that and many other reasons, I was so honored to be one of the speakers.…
In a recent article for Expedia Viewfinder, I write about how I might travel using a time machine if given the opportunity. The post was inspired by Expedia’s campaign in support of the new Dreamworks film, Mr. Peabody and Sherman. And in writing my piece, I was really surprised to find how personal the topic of time travel turned out to be for me. Most people might choose to go back to some profound moment in world history. And in the film, the main characters do exactly that from Troy to Versailles to Ancient Egypt, accidentally wreaking havoc on the space-time continuum. But me!? I’d go back to the toe-tapping era of the 1950’s in Vegas. Why? Well, first of…
